The allowance of checked luggage per person varies with different airlines. Checked luggage cannot exceed 50 pounds in weight or be larger than 62 inches in dimension (length + width + height) per piece. Carry on items must be small enough to fit beneath your seat or in the overhead compartment aboard the aircraft. You may have two items for carry-on. If you take more than the allowable number of bags, the airline may impose an “excess baggage charge” which would be at your own personal expense.
The baggage tags that accompanied this booklet should be attached to each piece of luggage you are taking on this trip. Please fill them out completely with your name and address. These tags greatly expedite baggage handling and should remain on your luggage throughout the program. Also, place the bright cover on your luggage handle.
Sportswear is worn day and night. Women usually wear very informal dresses, slacks or dressy shorts at night. Men wear sport shirts or a sports coat. Resort casual attire is appropriate for all activities except the special awards night. The Awards evening will be formal - with cocktail attire for the ladies and suits or coat with tie for the gentlemen. It is not black-tie.
You will find the local people very friendly and will go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. The official language of Mexico is Spanish. It is customary to be greeted with a handshake or “abrazo” (hug). “Hola” is the traditional greeting for hello, “Adios” for farewell and “Gracias” for thank you.
The currency in Mexico is the Nuevo Peso or New Peso (MXN). Currently, $1.00 USD buys 13.00 MXN and can vary each day. All major credit cards are welcome. Traveler´s checks are, by far, the safest and best to bring with you. Personal checks are difficult to cash. U.S. dollars are also accepted at many places.
